Overview:

As a Cyber Security Engineer on contract, you will be responsible for safeguarding our organization's systems and data from cyber threats. This role requires a proactive individual with a strong understanding of cyber security principles, methodologies, and technologies. The Cyber Security Engineer will work closely with our IT team to implement and maintain security measures, conduct risk assessments, and respond to security incidents as they arise.

Responsibilities:

Security Implementation:

Implement and maintain security measures to protect computer systems, networks, and data.
Configure and manage security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software.
Monitor systems for security breaches and investigate violations when they occur.

Risk Assessment:

Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to identify potential security risks.
Analyze security risks and develop mitigation strategies to address vulnerabilities.
Stay up-to-date on emerging threats and security best practices to proactively address potential risks.

Incident Response:

Respond to security incidents in a timely manner, investigating and mitigating the impact of breaches.
Develop and implement incident response plans to minimize the impact of security incidents.
Work with cross-functional teams to identify root causes of incidents and implement corrective actions.

Security Awareness:

Provide security training and awareness programs to educate employees on cyber security best practices.
Promote a culture of security awareness throughout the organization, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and compliance with security policies.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain detailed documentation of security policies, procedures, and incidents.
Generate regular reports on security metrics, including vulnerability assessments, incident response times, and compliance status.
Communicate security risks and recommendations to management and stakeholders as needed.

Required Skills:

Strong understanding of cyber security principles, methodologies, and technologies.
Experience with security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software.
Proficiency in conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration tests.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly identify and mitigate security risks.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or CompTIA Security+ are desirable.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
Proven experience in a cyber security role, preferably in a corporate or enterprise environment.
Demonstrated experience in implementing and maintaining security measures to protect against cyber threats.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as GDPR, HIPAA, or PCI DSS.
Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies.
